This course is designed for a beginner and for the operator that has some experience in the maintenance field and around electrical equipment.
- This course will refresh the student’s memory on safety to include lock out, tag out, and block out. The student will also learn how electricity is generated both in a simple generator and in a power plant so that if there are problems with a facility emergency generator, they will have an understanding as to how it operates so that they can troubleshoot and repair it promptly.
- In this course we will trace how electricity leaves the generator, either from the power plant or backup generator and trace that throughout the building to include electrical panels, receptacles, disconnects and ultimately to the different types of loads that may be found though out the building.
- The student will also learn how electricity can be controlled to make a single-phase or a three-phase motor operate properly.
- The student will learn how three phase motors should be wired whether they are, 3 lead, 6 lead, 9, or 12 lead motors, whether they are Wye configuration or Delta configuration in both high or low voltage.
- We are also going to discuss VFD’s, the makeup of the VFD and what their purpose is.
This course is designed to get the facility operators enough information so they can maintain their buildings running at peak efficiency.
